Cattle Panel Solutions

February 22, 2022

We spent today adding some heavy duty cattle panels to our holding pens to re-enforce them and give a little height to the fence. We have used these cattle panels all over the ranch from building temporary working pens to building a small arena with a holding pen. They work well for us and are pretty much indestructible. We source them locally so they are easy for us to get to quickly and get set up.

Our holding pen is small and this is where we push them down to the chute. It never fails when we get down to only a few cattle left in the pen they start getting anxious and jittery about being alone. Every time we work cows at least one tries to jump the fence and occasionally is successful! The problem the last time we worked the cows was that they jumped the fence that borders the road and not the pasture. We had to come up with a solution for this before the next time we needed to get cattle into the chute! This was a quick fix that actually works really well. The panels are heavy so moving them is the most difficult part. Bryon has perfected a system for moving several panels at time with the tractor. Work smarter not harder right! Luckily with two people we can move them into place relatively easy. If you have never moved cattle panels get ready for your lift / strength training work out.

Once the panel is in place they are really easy to join together with a metal stake slid between two welded brackets. Our granddaughter was onsite today to help hold the stakes and hand Popi tools as needed.

After the panels were up Bryon “Popi” wires the panel to the existing fence. I am looking forward to pushing cows down this fence now that I know they can’t get out !
